History fact: Napier Bridge first built across the Cooum River to link Triplicane and Santhome with Fort St. George, was initially called Triplicane Bridge, then Island Bridge in 1778 and later St. George Bridge in 1885. It was renovated several times before Francis Napier, who was the Governor of Madras from 1866 to 1872, rebuilt in 1869. The photo shows a large contingent of cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), staged a flag march in connecting with the NCC Day.
